Music and Books
This is a list of the Books and Music i like.
It is not ordered in anyway, it is not measured in anyway, i would seriously doubt it was even consistent in anyway. All in all it is highly unusable and benefits society in no way whatsoever.
It is simply a record of Books and CD's that i think are a little more interesting than the average. In the hope that putting them up on the web will in some way help me to remember them better???
Elsewhere - CD
One of the best CD's i have ever heard. This was the debut LP for a bunch
of students at the Conservatorium in Brisbane.
After buying this on a whim, i have followed up the lead singer at other
concerts and festivals all over brisbane. At around 20 she is one of the
best voices to come out of Brisbane ever.
I have introduces a ton of people to her (admittedly almost all female)
and they are all hocked. I would recommend this CD as the ideal intro to
her work though. So anyone who is into vocal, folk/rock, go out and buy.
The Saskiad - Book
A play on the Iliad. It is similarly an epic, with journeys over the seas.
The start is good, but it all ends a bit to real and raw for my liking.
Still a worthwhile read and to those of you who don't read for the escapism,
the end might be satisfying.
Mouth Music Made Easy - Book
Only happened to come across this because i knew the author
All i will say is it is the complete antithesis to a Mills and Boon novel.
Run Lola Run - CD
So amazingly good
Funky and dif rent, just like the movie
Mostly remixed stuff, but i can find "techno" a bit boring an repetitive.
This defiantly doesn't suffer from that
War Of the Worlds - CD
An abridged musical rendition of the 1970's british radio production of
War of the Worlds. Very 70's but so powerful for exactly that reason.
I still get the alien's scream jumping into my head at the most inappropriate
times. But have to drop everything i am doing because the sound is obviously
far more important, and deserves my full concentration.
Although having said that i got "yo mumbo, mumbo italiano" stuck in my head
today. So being able to make a lasting impact upon my subconscious isn't
a guarantee of quality.
